A Brief History of CMC-KUHNKE
1971
Manfred KUHNKE - In 1971 KUHNKE initiated the development of quality control equipment for cans with the introduction of the DP1 - Seam Projector; an immediate and world-wide success. From this beginning, a comprehensive product line of can and end gauging and testing equipment with many unique and innovative features has developed.
1974
Container Machinery Corp. (CMC) - Since 1974 CMC has provided machinery for canmaking on an international basis. Family owned and operated, CMC continues to be a progressive company, striving to stay on the leading edge of container manufacturing.
1988
Container Machinery Corp. (CMC) - In 1988 CMC developed and released the award winning S.E.A.M.scan double seam inspection system. Combining precision measurement fixtures with user-friendly computer software, S.E.A.M.scan brought modern computer speed and accuracy to can inspection and SPC.
1995
Container Machinery Corp. (CMC) - Cannex, in 1995, saw the beginning of a new era in double seam inspection when CMC unveiled the world’s first fully-automated double seam inspection. Shown for the first time at Cannex, the autoS.E.A.M.qc performed a complete beverage can seam teardown in one minute.
1997
Manfred KUHNKE - Pressed to meet the increasing worldwide demand for his manual and semi-automated can inspection systems, Manfred Kuhnke expands his operations and moves his business into a larger manufacturing facility.
2003
KUHNKE Metrology GmbH (KMG) - On January 1, 2003, Manfred KUHNKE retired from his long career as master gauge-maker, and his company was purchased by father-son team Heinz Grossjohann and Alex Grossjohann owners of Container Machinery Corp.
2004
CMC-KUHNKE - In 2004 KMG and CMC emerged as a unified organization with offices in New York and Berlin. Focused on innovation, CMC-KUHNKE continues to set the global standard for can and end measurement.
