The DP1, Double Seam Projector, was developed by KUHNKE in 1971. A cross section of the double seam is magnified to 30 times its usual size on a glass screen. In front of the screen is a vernier scale, which measures with an accuracy of 1/100 mm.
Some Double Seam Projectors have been mounted with a digital vernier scale which replaces the mechanical vernier scale and can output the measurement values to a computer where the results may be statistically processed and stored. Special can tables are available for aerosol cans, pails and very large cans.
After nearly four decades of service, the DP1, Double Seam Projector, has been retired.
